Matt, I didn't mean to say I installed PALS on the DW 745 -- the PALS were for a contractor saw I had previously. The DW 745 doesn't use trunnions, just a simple pivot. It isn't as good as a trunnion in the respect that when tilting the blade for a miter cut, the cut line moves slightly, so the fence would need to be re-adjusted. But bench top saws need to be simple, light weight and portable. My first exposure to a bench top saw was helping a finish carpenter deck out a fancy restaurant. All he had was a beat up 8 inch Makita bench top and a 10 inch Makita chop saw that he operated off the tailgate of his pickup. Yet he was able to make beautiful smooth cuts (and his work was the same). When I asked about his tools, he said the saw is nothing but a platform that spins a blade. The quality of the cut is in the blade. His blades each cost more than his saw, and he had several for different kinds of wood. Anyway, I didn't have to do any aligning on my DW 745. It was good-to-go out of the box. I did install a better blade for ripping, since that was the operation I bought the saw to do. Loren
Hi Loren, You've helped me out with the DW745 before - thanks! Where did you get the PALS from for the DW 745? Bolt size? tx, Matt New York City
