Wow, I totally forgot about posting pictures for this... I ended up going with the slightly over sized holes for the bolts. Work out well. I think it came out pretty good looking:

From the looks of it, the fence on the G0691 (what I have) is a slightly modified version of that ShopFox fence. I replaced my fence face with a corian-like product. Here's the end result of that:

New face is up; pretty darned square and very flat. I'm quite happy with it so far. I'll spend some time tuning the fence up completely tomorrow and will get some pictures to boot.
I'm sure my...
I found it locally. Just had to call around. I don't know about planing or jointing. I would assume that if you can run it through a ts with problems, then you should be fine there as well... If you...
I'll keep the blow-out thing in mind... I've got enough left over to make a ZCI with. I might have to give that a try. did you provide enough clearance for the riving knife?
Same stuff,...
thanks for the helpful information.
I'm going to replace the fence faces on my G0691 with a piece of corian and had a couple of questions. One is extreme n00bness on my part and I'm looking for some sound ideas.
1) What is a good...
Hey William... As soon as you get that board cleaned up, feel free to send it to me. I'll PM you my mailing address. ;)
Put grandpa to work in your shop. ;) I have no advice really. My parents thought I was nuts when I wanted to a guitar player in a rock band. 35yrs old and I'm still doing it though. :)
No they are not and you have to remove additional material under the ZCI as well. If I had it all to do over again... I would save my money and just make my own. I bought mine thinking it would...
I haven't read anything bad about the ts-aligner, all been good. I'd like to pickup one myself.
So today I tried to shim my stock fence flat to no avail. In fact it just drove me nuts. I think there are 3 issues going on with the fence:
1) The tube steel for the fence itself is not flat,...
I'm sure the scrap idea works but being a newb myself... I feel a little more secure using a machined tool. A false sense of security I'm sure, but it is what it is.
It's not my shop, that's my critique! :p ;)
Kind of looks like an old Craftsman to me.
Thanks the kind words!
hehehe, or a REALLY long hose. ;)
I need to dig out my tripod so I can take a picture of my fence. I don't think people "get" just how outta whack these things are. I'm going to try jointing mine first, but the corian idea is...
I only own the 6" grizzly jointer that I have because it was a super cheap deal. If I were buying new, I'd totally go the 8" route. I'm fairly new to the hobby and already have encountered times...
That is a great tip, thanks! I was having a problem with this on some maple the other day. If I wasn't moving fast, I was burning that stuff. Started driving me nuts.
So my band got around to shooting another video a few weeks ago, and it is finally done. Now to get on MTV.... oh wait, they don't play videos anymore.

I use these on stage and now in the shop. Expensive but very well worth it, imho. Especially if you subject yourself to high db's on a regular basis.

Maybe I should have stated more clearly. I could see it not being a problem if it didn't affect the wings, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. I doubt mine is dead flat - but it also doesn't...
I decided not to go all out on this sled since it my first. It looks like I can still put some of the features from that other sled onto this one at some point, just not yet...
Meanwhile... I'm...
