I also like this book. It's a collection of articles from various authors. In the original post, to 'acquire' means to use your library card first, right? I've got several tool books that I rarely...
Just a bit over 8' long, tool tray, face vise on opposite end. I did manage to fill in the clamp shelf down below.

You can't go wrong with either.

That is a good looking till. Sometimes I wish I had wall storage like that.

Congratulations on those chairs. I've made a few Windsors years ago and thought the bending was about the coolest thing I've done in woodworking. The compound curve of a continuous arm especially....
C.R.M. has odd hours as he's an Industrial Arts teacher in Xenia (I believe) and it's pretty much a one-man operation. There's a nice selection of domestics and it's pretty laid-back as far as...
Congratulations on that 'find'.
(I've got to find some friends like that!)

Another video (FWW) from Philip Lowe on the essential handplanes. Just another opinion on where to start:
...
So did mine and at about that same use level. I took it back to the local dealer for warranted repairs although I should have check into this myself. It's been in their shop since before...
The bending is the best part. Watching that wood take shape on a bending form was one of the most enjoyable things I've done in wood. The compound curve of the continuous arm was pretty cool.
I...
Criminy. You are correct about the price of that book. I went to an auction site to see if it was available--it is expensive! I had mine down in a box in the basement with some other old books. I...
Take a look at Drew Langsner's, The Chairmaker's Workshop. It's got some good information in it. At one time he had a site up for tools and information.
Another book I like is John Kassay's, The...
After many years of not actually 'needing' one I purchased the Lee Valley medium shoulder plane.
I had spent many years not realizing what a nice tool I was missing.
I use mine often. Seems...
Mine are on open shelves now but this summer I plan to make an enclosed cabinet for all my tools. Both to keep off the dust and to be able to keep them warm enough in the winter to avoid rusting.
...
This would be my list, too, with the change I made to from the block to the 5 1/2--all type 11 or earlier. I like those low knobs; and a 'C' or two for style points.

I'll be interested in seeing what you come up with as far as this corner storage is concerned. That seems to be my best option, too, for maximum storage. I've got a dead corner in my shop and have...
This is what I've got now:

My plan is to make a new base. I thought a Shaker bench was the key and set about to make drawers and...
My choice was the Holtzapffel bench due to the wooden twin-screw vise. I'll probably use a wagon vise in place of a tail vise.

I think the 'New Best of FWW' has some good information on handplanes. It is a compilation of various articles and has input from different authors.

Great looking shave rack, better than most of my furniture. Your shop has a great 'feel' to it as well.
Tom
Congratulations on the decision and pending retirement--at least from the classroom. I've got 44 more days to 'mold the future and influence those young lives' and then I'm done, too. Those 31...
It would seem a picture or two might be appropriate here.....:)
Tom
Carl,
That is a great looking piece of furniture. Love the selection of wood on the slant-top. Your family will treasure your efforts.
Tom
Rob,
You must live fairly close to Carriage Hill. My wife and I go out to Charleston Falls for our 'woodland' walks. I would imagine you've been there but if not, it's over on Ross Rd. Tipp has...
