Recently I've had to remove a rotten wooden door sill so I need to replace it. My plan is to remake it with a more durable wood to match the door, how would you go about designing the door sill. Also...
I remember seeing a video from Tormek on sharpening a scythe and a variety of other unique tools. That may be of some help.
The first woodworking project I ever built was an electric guitar. I used the book Make Your Own Electric Guitar & Bass. I had no real woodworking experience (or clamps) and it didn't seem too...

I did glue up the sides and top as one piece. I was worried if I didn't I would be just a bit off and it would look really bad.
Thanks for the comments, here is a pic of the tambour doors closed
Hey everyone. It's taken me a while to finish this, but here it is. It's peruvian walnut and maple, with peruvian walnut tambour doors. It's about 6' long by 30" tall 25" deep. There are 3 bays of...
So I've been turning bowls for as long as I've been turning (about 2 yrs or so) and I'm just now trying to turn finials. I guess I was wondering what the trick is to not have it snap when I get down...
Thanks for all the replies! I was seriously just being a dope when it came to what the dimmer was actually doing. Basically I didn't look at what the current rating on the switch was and assumed it...
Thanks, I was picturing the switch regulating the current, but i guess it regulates the voltage?
Not sure if this is the correct place for this, but I'm trying to rig up a guitar sidebending jig. The problem I'm running into is that I want use a dimmer switch to regulate the brighness of the...

Sorry, I saw it called that somewhere. It's where you put some nails on either side of a large workboard just a little in from edge of the top board width. Then there is a small stick that props up...
So I'm in the process of gluing the back and top together. I tried to make a batten press but it seems to be too loose. I was able to glue up the back but the glue joint is questionable. So before...
The first (and only) electric guitar I built, I used "How to build an electric guitar and bass". Had a lot of nice colored photographs and tackled either a bolt on neck or through body construction....
Hey all,
I received my copy of Cumpiano's book and boy is it dense. I'm also looking through Kinkade's book as well. Which aspect of the guitar would be best to start with? I've resawn the...
I hadn't given it much though yet I suppose. I'm thinking maybe a dyed walnut and white maple binding. If I can find some holly maybe holly instead. For the peg head I'm keeping my eyes peeled for...
So I think I'm going with a mahogany body and sides, sitka spruce top and a morado fretboard. The only thing I have to buy is the spruce top.
So I've done some more reading and I've decided to try to do it from scratch. I'll post with the progress. Wish me luck.
Thanks Bill. When I did my fretboard on the electric I did the same thing you did. How did you bend the sides of your dulcimer? I was thinking of making a form to steam bend the sides.
Hey guys,
I've been contemplating building an acoustic guitar for a while now. I've made an electric one, but I now I want a different challenge. So should I go with a kit, or is it about...
