Very nice once again Mark! Working in oak with detail on such small scale requires finesse cuts a little less speed. If anyone can do it you would be the one.

Very well done once again! Thank you for keeping the bar really high for me and others.
This carving project was a long road. I started this in January and have worked on it off and on since. I made this using 8/4 basswood glued together to make a 3’x5’ panel. The finial is two pieces...
Thanks Mark. I have been wanting to try this but haven't had the opportunity yet. The visual helps me out. Is there any trick to repair imperfections in the casts?
I didn't realize that you would be casting the pieces. Keep us posted of the process.
I learned a long time ago that you don't try and tell someone how to do their job when they do it for a living.
How thick is the panel?
Looking good!
Beings these will be cast and gold leafed just how detailed do your pieces have to be? Do you still have to be as detailed as an stained piece? Thanks!
Yes, you did say cast didn't you. Old age must be catching me.
As always your uniqueness sets you apart from almost all of us. Thanks again for sharing.
Looks to me you had better hire the wife again for laying out the patterns. Good luck!
How will these then be mounted to the wall/column?
Nice pieces once again. Thanks for sharing.
I assume that these will be hung using the top squared area?
Do you have any video of you working on a carving that I can watch? I see all of your...
I took a look at the other forum and all I can say is WOW! Very very nice carvings. You have really good line with those carvings. Thanks for sharing.
Crisp lines once again. Nice!
Is there any rule of thumb as to how many curls/raps is used in an acanthus? I noticed these have more than most.
The key for me on this piece was my Bosch Dual-Bevel Glide Miter Saw 12". Without the saw I could not have made the piece. I made this piece for a couple woodcarving shows I have coming up.
I posted this under woodcarving but it is as much woodworking as it is carving. This is a layered 32" chip carved star that I just finished. The edges are stained and the surfaces were bleached...
This is a layered 32" chip carved star that I just finished. The edges are stained and the surfaces were bleached before chip carving. Basswood was the choice of wood for this one. All compound cuts...
The crest turned out really nice. I agree with you I like your antiquing of the pieces.
You had as much fun making the screwdriver chisel as you did carving the piece didn't you? LOL! I would have! Just give me and excuse to make a unique chisel and I will.
It amazes me how clean and crisp all your carvings are. Thanks for sharing!
The top title caps are 1 7/8" and small are 1 1/4". The small letters in 1-10 are 5/8"-1/2"
Laser! Are they that slow? I spent one 8 total hour day cutting the letters. It's like when you were banging out 2000 lf of trim. By the time you are halfway thru the job you have it down as to the...
All lettering and anything else that is dark is all cut with a knife. The letters took about 30 sec. each to carve.
