I've used it but I prefer Unibond 800 because I found it easier to get it completely mixed. I don't use enough to make the cost diff significant. I've had no problem with any of the water mixed types...

Jerry's right. Contact cement is generally not the right adhesive for veneer. If you're using a backed veneer, it might be ok but will eventually fail. It should never be used for raw veneer.
