I spoke to Mike at LaserBits about Cermark and he said it would mark on spring steel but because of the dark surface of the pieces I need to mark, that it wouldn't be very visable. He also told me...
Hello everyone,
I am in need of information on how to mark spring steel with a laser engraver. I know it can be done because I'm holding a sample and it was marked with a laser engraver. It has a...
Hello all,
I have a question concerning the best ways of attaching the metal pins to the back of plastic name tags? I've looked at a couple and it looks like the findings are melted onto the back...
Thanks Joe. Great ideas. I'll do that.
I would suggest you do some testing before you do any fabric engraving for sales. I recently had an opportunity to do a fabric cutting job for a local quilter so I experimented with both cutting...
That's great!
My mom had a couple strokes a few years back and lost a lot of mental functions such as speaking and reading. She did how ever start doing jigsaw puzzles and has become very good...

I just made a really dumb mistake while lasering a marble tile and I'm really glad I did. I was experimenting with one of the tiles from Laserbits and instead of the reccomended settings of 30% speed...
Keith,
Looks good. I'd like to try that on mine. What settings did you use?

Joe,
It printed fine on mine. I just imported the file, set up a fast, low power run and off it when. It did not vector cut it out even though I told it to.

As promised, I received a new mother board for my laser this afternoon and it went in within a matter of minutes. I'm happy to say, I'm back up and running once again.
Thanks for all the great info. Theres a lot to go through and think about. Thanks again.

I haven't done it myself, but from spending time here at the Creek, I think you have to use Cermark or some other product on the regular tiles that you would buy at Home Depot or other such stores....
I've got a couple of ideas for projects/ products in mind, but they call for learning to sand blast. It sounds like there are several people in the engraving business that include sandblasting in...
It's a Helix, model 8000, 45 W, and I've had it for about 4 months. I bought it new.
The problems started when the carriage would not return to it's home position, even after I recalibrated it....
Well, the "mother" ( hope I have that spelled correctly) board died on me yesterday afternoon. Here I sit idle until Monday afternoon. The good news is that Epliog was very good about figuring out...
Masonite or "hardboard" works very well also. It's very cheap and cut well in the engraver. It comes in 1/4" and 1/8" thick in 4'x8' sheets for just a few dollars each.
It sounds like a really neat material, and not that expensive according to the website. Please let us know what they say about lasering.
Jim,
Thanks. That was what I was looking for. Thanks also to Tom and Alan for your suggestions. I really appreciate everyone here at the Creek.

Thanks for the info and the ideas. I does make sense to get the most, up to date software. I'll call Epilog and make sure it will be compatible.
Hello everyone,

One of the points my rep made was that if a third party parts supplier changes its part, goes out of business or dorps that part, the company you bought from will have to retro fit someone elses part...
