Lloyd, when you cut the board down closer to the piece you need, I would give it a day or so so the tension has time to do it's thing. I have had boards like that have been cut into smaller pieces...
It would have more brown in it if it were sweetgum. At least that is what it looks like around here. I'd put my money on cherry. Looks just like that when fresh cut.
It doesn't take long for a log to start losing it's bark so it may not have been down as long as you think. It sure looks like cherry to me though. How do you like that hudson mill? I looked at...
Looks like Cherry. A pic of the bark would also help.
I have a bailey #7 type 11 and a #8 can't remember the type that I will be selling in the next couple of days as soon as my LN #8 arrives.
$50 each?!?!? I just bought a new unused LN 9 chisel set with the leather tool roll with cocobolo handles from a guy that had them for a couple of years and never used them. If this is true, I got...
Nice job Rick. Thanks for posting that. I enjoyed it immensely.
I have a couple of gallons that I have been using for almost 3 years now. No problems so far.
I have the G0555x and the carter stabilizer fits right on without any issues. Well worth the money also.
I elected to go another route on the guides. I installed the cool blocks on my saw...
Some more info on Apitong I found:
Apitong General Characteristics:
Apitong is a very dense and tough wood with a relatively straight coarse grain pattern that is essentially knot free . ...
Looks like Apitong. We used to get a lot stuff from Brazil and that is what they built a lot of the crates out of. Very hard material but it machines pretty well. I don't know about why it...
Home depot just lowered their price to $220 for that kit. That is a heck of a deal
Please kick me in also. Thanks
I found a deal on a new shop fox w1718 5 hp 20 inch spiral cut for $2200. It was also dated 2008 and removing some of the cosmoline off the bed was a challenge but the byrd head wasn't bad at all. ...
I refuse to answer as my home owner insurance agent my stumble onto this thread.............
Ken, I bought the set when they first came out and I think I paid around $260 for the kit. Putting it as simply as I can, it was one of my top 5 tool purchases. I use them almost every day and they...
Not around here. If you can't offer quality at $4 a foot not only do you not work, you don't eat.
No, it isn't that it doesn't take that much time to back off the tension, just I have gotten used to using it and like being able to just flip the release. Just a preference thing.
This is just out of curiosity and to see if it would be worth my time. I recently upgraded my G0555X with a Carter Ratchet Rod but hate that I lost the use of the quick release.
I am thinking...
Again, what is the end game? Where does this end? Mercedes came up with some great technology in their vehicles called "Smart Stop" that allows for those lapses of judgment that you refer to. Why...
I wonder how many hands and fingers the sawstop guy has wished upon to get his patent on every saw in the US.
I hate sawstop for all the frivolous lawsuits that have came out since the technology was released. Somewhere along the way, people stopped being held accountable for their actions and society...
Well, I was at the KC Woodworking show and bought the saw after demoing it and yes, it is being shipped to me. Funny, one of the selling points from the Bosch reps were how flat the table was and...
If you want the Forrest Dado King, I know of a distributor that sells them to me for $250. PM me if you are interested.
