Unfortunately this is not an issue of lesser quality plywood. The stuff I used was made in Canada and purchased from my local lumber distributor.
I just need some info about MDF.
I made a slab door kitchen for a customer and used plywood instead of MDF for the doors. The doors have subsequently warped. I have researched it and found that slab doors need to be made form MDF....
The split limb looks like hickory to me. There are other types of hickory other than shagbark. Maybe a pignut. I think hickory can have medullary rays.
Thank you all for your input. I spoke with torchmate and took things apart. As it turns out the set screw on the motor coupling had come loose. The z axis had enough friction to lower but not enough...
I would appreciate anyone's help on this.
I am new to CNC.
I have a torchmate 2x4 router and vcarve pro. I was cutting an intricate design that was running fine. I went to eat dinner and when I...
checkout sketchup from google.
it's free.
it was designed for architectural work. once you've learned how to use it, it is extremely flexible but slower than cabinet specific programs.
Dan,
It is not cherry.
If you live in Wisconsin and it is local wood from a boat builder I would say that it is probably tamarack.
Whatever it is it's a softwood, not a hardwood.
The Boys & Girls Club Along the Allegheny in western Pennsylvania is having a fund raiser golf tournament. I have volunteered to put the plaque together and am looking for someone to cut out their...
I ended up not cheaping out and taking the advice to purchase marine grade varnish. I bought a quart of Interlux 95 Goldspar clear varnish from Jamestown Distributors. I also purchased the s-glass...
I'm finishing a wooden bent shaft canoe paddle for a friend and going to be using a low viscosity epoxy with a layer of fiberglass over the blade for abrasion resistance. My question is what to put...
I'm making a wooden bent shaft canoe paddle as a gift for a friend. I have a furniture business and so the wood working is going fine. What I am posting about is the finishing. I am going to coat the...
The pressure doesn't move the barrel it just changes the way the barrel vibrates thus changing point of impact. Firearms are amazingly sensitive to that sort of thing.
Furniture is generic, so is a ring. Build them all you'd like. Use all the common woodworking knowledge available. Ask people on this forum or elsewhere for tips, but all I'm saying is that it is...
We make some smaller things like that, and it bothers me when people try to copy them. It takes time, effort and money to develop a product. If you appreciate what they are doing then support them by...
Mulberry root here in Pennsylvania is an amazing bronze green. Really unique. Very prone to chip out, kinda pain to work with. Finishes nicely, lots of depth. If your interested I could get a pic.
the aluminum track is in the metal rack near the fasteners at lowes. It is intended to edge 3/4 plywood.
I used aluminum in the track because I felt that it would slide better than wood tracks.
A burr will form during sharpening. I lightly grind the back of the blade against the wheel to remove it (just hold it in my hand) I then use the strop.
First:
Yes it can be messy. The knives carry the water during sharpening. You have to keep the water level very low or it ends up everywhere.
Second:
I put a block against the stainless steel...
Parallel to the stones edge. I found it easiest to just keep everything square.
Also: The bevel edge on the knives match the wheel angle and are parallel to the table at about the 11 inch mark on...
much more important than width (for me) is bed length. 6 inch jointers are very limiting in how long of boards they can effectively join. It might not seem like a big deal if you've never used a...
I can't believe nobody has any comments.
I posted it because after an extensive search about how i could go about sharpening my own 20 inch planer knives, I realized I had to make my own system. I...
The jig was made to sharpen planer blades up to 20 inches. Could be made to do any size. Used aluminum track from lowes and ipe for the runners, they have to have zero play. I have about 30 dollars...
