The motor is not covered and doesnt look like it ever was. There is a square dust door at the bottom of the cabnet in the front. What is an RI motor?

I found an old Unisaw, 1950 to 1952.
One horse motor, 1725 rpm.
It looks all original and good shape.
What are the advantages of this saw, if any, over a newer/3,000+ rpm and 3 hp...
