Thanks for the thoughts Mark.
I am working on a relief carving that contains 3 types of foliage - clumps of small ground level plants, larger bushes 6-8 feet tall, and trees. I am struggling a bit with creating varying textures....
I am not a bowl carver but another option might be a bent spoon gouge. Lots of size and bend options.
Beautiful bowl. Love the simple shape and the color.
Most wood works accumulate a variety of jigs over time. I know storage depends on the size, shape, etc. of the jig.
I know a traditional method is to just hang them on the wall but I'm curious...
Has anyone taken the legs of a contractor table saw and built a cabinet underneath it?
I realize there is still the issue of the motor hanging out the back but a cabinet underneath would at least...
Thanks for all the thoughts. To answer the questions of what's my purpose, its pretty unspecific. The largest thing I have made is a small folding kitchen table for my daughter. I also make things as...
Just moved into a house with three stalls connected to the house. 3rd stall will be my shop. Trying to decide if it makes sense to isolate the 3rd stall with a wall. I assume folks on this board have...
Thank you John and Keith. Toggling to full site is a reasonable workaround. I tried it out and it works just fine. I appreciate the answer.
I should add, this is from my Android phone.
Thanks Keith!
The very first post in this thread has a little paper clip art the bottom. From comments it seems others can see these images but I cannot in any thread like that. ...
Why can not see thumbnails in posts?
Appreciate the comments. We'll see what happens...downsizing can be tough.
The wife wants to move and the arrangement we are considering will have limited shop space as part of the main residence so I am toying with the idea of building a shed dedicated to woodcarving. ...
Thinking about making a hope chest for my daughter and I have a bunch of ash laying around. I have made a few projects with ash and always used a simple minwax / poly finish. The finish turns out...
We bought an inexpensive used kitchen table for our daughter. The top is a little rough, but otherwise the table is good. I would like to sand the top and apply either interior varnish or wipe on...
I am planning a couple of sharving mugs and am trying to decide how to finish them. The wood is cherry.
I have searched the site and found a few references but nothing definitive. I am hoping to...
Nice looking spoons Mark. Any finish on them or use them raw?
Steven,
Good job.
Read your other post too....it's always nice to be able to use reclaimed wood and the fact that your grandson has claimed it is all the better. He will always value the lap...
That's a good little table Steven...and the price is certainly right. I see from your title "second" cheap table. Is there a theme or reason here for building multiple cheap tables? Just curious...
Beautiful wood and a beautiful table. I am sure your daughter will cherish it! I like the slot in the drawer for the drawer guide. Nice way to keep the bottom of the drawer off the casing.
I just discovered that the old formula Minwax sanding sealer in the yellow can is no longer produced. I am looking for a replacement with similar qualities, mainly in look.
I have some hand carved...
Thanks Jim! Sent you a PM.
Thanks everyone! Sounds like I have my answer....probably best to use my funds elsewhere.
I have been contemplating getting some mini cole jaws to hold bowls while finishing the bottom. I have a home made doughnut chuck and when taking the last bowl out of the chuck I realized the chuck...
