Another silly answer. If you are on any medications, beware of what you're doing. 10 feet up, blacked out. Chain saw went one way and I went the other. All is well that ends well. No injuries. Whew. ...
All I know is that I had a nice Craftsman square from a decade plus ago. Was made by Starrett (I think). Had a nice black ruler. (Find one today). Well I traded it back to Sears/Craftsman since I...
When I washed my deck with Murphys Oil Soap, I thought I did the right thing. Until, I wanted to recoat the deck a week later. The stain did not settle or dry per se. Icky sticky. I should have used...
Is it possible that the dust is coming off of your clothing or hair? Sleeves? Not insulting your hygiene but that may be the problem if you were doing other work prior to your finish project.
We used to use Steel Wool very fine grade. Wipe clean (make sure) then recoat as needed.
Funny, I changed computers and lost this site link. I searched and ended up everywhere else but back here. (Doh') but, when I got the survey and the name right.... I found home again. So, Thank them...
Matt, a very nice piece of wood crafted. As for the workshop, as others have said. It goes to show you that you don't need all the fancy tools, just the want and desire to create something lasting....

Great high school training videos of what not to do. Disorganized garage and holding wood with one hand and power tool with the other, than push the power tool.

My dad was a hack, but he got by with us three kids and he worked very hard. He'd always tell me- "you ain't nothing without a set of blue prints". Well, that could be true, but, I just fixed his...
Don't know if this will work for you but Lowes has a good fastener dept. that you may be able to match one too. If just using the plane. If restoring it, well. Try Sears online?
Sorry I couldn't be...
Very nice. Keep the neighbors away from it. :)
There was a big debate I read online quite awhile back (1 yr or so) when I was looking for a nailer. It was clipped head vs roundhead and how Zoning rules were going to be applied or argued anyways....
Superb work David. Wow!
Keep in mind your set back from the property lines. Here it's 4 ft from the back yard property line. On the side it's right to the line. Permit required for the 8 x 10, and it's $40.00. Now in the...
Dad would always putz around trying to do something.. but as Dads can be..with 3 kids in the house. Too busy to teach me. So, in High School I latched on to my Shop Teacher and grabbed whatever...
FWIW, my shop teachers made the biggest impression on me. I still use their patience and theories to date. They actually tried to teach something useful. Bravo for trying.:)
Very nice endeavor. At 57 yrs old though in my case, I'd hire a few to do the heavy work and as the OP said, pre cut what you can to save time. Best of luck. Permits aside, I think they're only good...
Look into hooking up a camera covering the front and back of the house. Then have that camera hooked to your computer Hard Drive, and burning the images onto a CD... Sorry to hear about your loss....
Call me old fashioned. When we built the staircase in my house my carpenter neighbor continuted to drive 3 in screws with his Dewalt 18v as I watched him replace battery after batter. I just kept...
