James,
I could not agree more. Their talk of added security is absolute rubbish and is not supported by any facts. I had over 500 eBay transactions, and most of those were conducted via PayPal....

George,
Good information, but I would caution USA buyers against lumping all products made in, say, China, India & Taiwan together as "Asian" products. Some of the best machinery you could wish...
Time to throw some more lighter fluid on the barbecue.:)
1. Are you sure the General 650 is made in North America, or is it just the motor ? ( I don't know)
2. What evidence is there to...
Chris,
I forgot you guys don't speak the Queen's English. :) The expression "Familiarity breeds contempt" is an old one and in this context means disdain or disregard.
Anyway to more important...
Per,
You are referring to carpenters & cabinet makers, and I specifically excluded schools and commercial shops from my comment. Familiarity breeds contempt, and that is why many carpenters &...
Here's a slightly different perspective from someone who has never even seen a sawstop saw, and frankly would not buy one even if he could. Schools and commercial shops aside, I just don't get why...

What size V belt does this saw normally use ? That tells you what size link belt to use. As for the arbor turning and the blade stationary, I don't understand what you are saying there.
If you think their books are old, wait till you have a look at their "how to" videos. You would be lucky to find one that was less than 10 years old, and most are older.:(
I have three, two for the tablesaw, which I use for almost every cut. I think they are great.
That's a drill/driver, they are talking about impact drivers. Whole different ball game.
Dewey,
Maybe you could help him out with some "Battleship Grey" :D
I have been more than a little disappointed with DeWalt 18V batteries, so much so that I am currently selling all my Dewalt 18V tools except the trim nailer.
Congratulations. You have discovered the "secret" of the impact driver and the "secret" of the Panasonic in one hit !! :)
Just remember that the impact driver takes no prisoners and it is easy to...
After over 5,000 views and over 100 replies, it seems only one person her would label Norm "a hack". I think it's settled then.
I hope Norm continues doing what he is doing for many years to come,...
That's just plain xxxxx. The Sawstop 3HP and the Powermatic 3HP weigh roughly the same.
Peltor for me.
Karl,
Norm is obviously a carpenter, not a cabinet maker, and his work is not perfect, but I would be delighted if I could do as well as him. I believe he deserves respect for what seems to be a...
For example ??
Wrong. Norm was a woodworker long before the TV show came along, and I think if he was asked to choose between the two he would choose woodwork.
Bob,
Sorry, I didn't read it that way because when an Australian uses the word "whingeing" it is definitely derogatory. No problem though, I take the p*ss as much as anyone.:)
Yes, I would prefer winter went all year round, especially after the last couple of days here. (104 degrees in your measure)
Why does my expression of an opinion constitute whingeing ??
Jim, That's a bit like the stubborn Americans who cling to the imperial measurement system when the rest of the world is metric. :D
Why do you want to vary the spacing on your dovetails ? For a fraction of the cost of the Leigh and Omnijig you can buy the Porter Cable 4212 and cut perfect dovetails (evenly spaced) all day long....
My opinion ? Awkward, unbalanced, and the handle will not suit you if you have a small hand. Further, the batteries are average. I sold mine as soon as possible. I now have only Milwaukee &...
