I use leveling set screws in my inserts and fit them fairly snug when making them.
When the humidity drops the inserst become looser. I then just use maskiing tape on the side to snug the insert in...
Nice work Rick. I'm sure this will be admired for generations to come.

Did that but have not had the time to get it. The pieces are so big it takes a machine to load it up. I tried to split a couple of the pieces but the curl keeps the pieces from spliting. Its like the...
I m going to take it in next week to them. I wanted to show it off a little before hand.
Thanks

There is a short story that goes along with this piece of wood.
If you would like to read some about it and view additional photos take a detour here...
That's a great piece!
I agree, that is great figure.

Raymond,
I apply lacquer with the turn table like you do only I use an HVLP gun to apply it. I like the looks of the lacquer, I'm just not sure how it will hold up.
Can you steer me in the...
Thanks all for the replys.
How well does shellac hold up and do I apply with a rag or spray like lacquer?
Thanks
Garry
That's a great looking piece Dick.

I have been using multiple finishes but would like to hear what everyone else is using. The last few I have used lacquer which came out great but these bowls for display only.
I have some Curly...
