Great idea Rye. Years ago, I bought some ceramic guides for my 24" minimax, and for the life of me I can't remember where I got them....but I'll bet it was from Luis. Thanks for his phone number.

Ya, I'm not too interested in the Laguna product.
These pictures are of the style I need. The ceramic "washer" is the white part, for those unfamiliar.
Inside diameter where the shaft goes is 12mm Outside diameter of the bearing is 32mm...
I spoke with Grizzly, and they don't sell them.
Jim, is Klingspor online? I can't find them. Are they the sandpaper folks?
All the ceramic bearings (washers actually) that I'm finding, are for...
Anyone know where I can get a set of ceramic Thrust Bearings for my Grizzly GO568 bandsaw?
I've gotten a "bang" on my MM24. It was caused by me being "timid" when feeding in my board to be resawed. It was a short piece of stock, and I had the leading edge, up off the table. When the...
Steven, at a price of over $7G, I'm not so sure I'd call that a sander for the "small shop".
Tom, that's a good point. I've tried this, and it does work. My Dewalt does go down to 1/8". Here's...
Allen, I agree. I did misinterpret what they wrote.
Bob, I'm looking for a widebelt, not a drum sander. I already have the Performax 22/44, and it's just way too slow. I've got hundreds of...
Any of you familar with the Grizzly 15"?

Steve, I find it odd that performing a Google search on:
Northgate widebelt sander
gets zero hits.
Same with:
northgate wide belt sander leneave
Do they have any kind of web presence?
So Todd, and Lou, are you saying that a sander like the Shop Fox 15" uses propritary belts, and is a piece of junk?

I create a fair amount of thin boards. 1/8", 3/16, and 1/4".
My drumsander is way to slow.
And even tho my planer will plane that thin, I get tear out.
Is there a wide belt sander on the market,...
Gosh, Dev...I don't think I'll be getting one of those for my garage shop, any time soon.
Dev, you lost me. The 299?
Matt, that Grizzly won't go down to 1/8".
Michael, almost everything. Maple, Oak, Walnut, Poplar, Beech, Elm, Butternut, Hickory, Purpleheart, Rosewood, Bloodwood, Pink Ivory, Leopardwood,...
Things I like about my Dewalt 735 planer:
Small footprint.
Leaves a very smooth finish
Easy knife changing
Planes down to 1/8" But, it goes thru knives like I go thru wax worms...
Thanks for the replies, gang.
Yes, John, I know that.
Tom, I've eMail'd Dewalt...so, we'll see the results of that contact....
Matt mentions Infinity tools. I'm ordering a set from them,...
I reciently bought the Dewalt 13" planer. Model 735 I believe.
I sure don't get much mileage out of the blades...and at $50 a pop, that really adds up. Plus on my hard maple, the feed rollers...
Thanks gang.
Gonna get me a book, and have some fun.
Rather than have the whole box a show-piece, I just wanted the top to be of something special.
Just glue on a piece of 1/8" fancy wood, and...
Nothing fancy. Just small wooden boxes, with lids. No dovetails, nor fancy joints, just nice wooden boxes, with lids. I've got a lot of small pieces of highly figured domestic and exotic woods, so...
My sister just bought the low end portable planer at Menards. I can't recall the brand. I think she paid about $289. Seems to work quite nice...except....
I know what snipe is. I get it on my...
Fired up the Dewalt planer.
Very unhappy with the results.
Snipe on almost every board, and lots of chipout...even before I got down to 1/8". These boards are only 24" long, or less, so supporting...
Beautiful, Roger and Scott. I've got a nice stand that my new planer will sit on, that's got nice long infeed/outfeed tables. Since my pieces will typically be only 24" long, it looks like I'll have...
Thanks for the info, Frank. Anything special I should know about that thing before I fire it up?
Oh, and if i'm after a 120 grit finish, do you think the finishing speed is about that?
Knives are...
I just went out, and bought a new Dewalt planer (735). It's got a auto depth stop at 1/8". The dual speed knives should give me a super smooth finish, too, I hope. With 3 knives, I'm also hoping...
