Thank you!
I also called GF as Sean suggested. The guy on the phone suggested a similar procedure but wet sanding the first coat in. I'll give your way a try first :)

Thank you all for the replies!
Jerry - Do you wait for the first application to soak in before wiping off? When you wipe off, are you doing a light wipe pass at low speed (200rpm?) or are you...
Thank you both for your replies!
With the polycrylic, I could apply at around 600 rpm with a cloth, allow a little dry time and then dry/cure the finish with friction. Not sure if this is right...
Hi,
I got into turning about a month ago (read: complete newbie) and am now on my fourth bowl. These are functional bowls and while I realize that other finished would be just fine, the fam is...
It was faster but equally importantly, the wood came off the machine with a light caramel color edge that was clean to the touch instead of charred, dirty edge. I did not do any cleanup on this wood....
Thanks! After years of trying to clean up the char, I have finally embraced it :) The pre-finished ply makes it really easy to clean the face which is awesome. I also used a vector turbo...
Hi!
After doing production jobs of 400 wine glasses and thousands of dog tags, I figured it was time to do something fun. My day job is working at a tech company with servers all over the world...
Opt in please! Is there a thread with your current inventory?
Thank you!
I'll stay away from water based acrylic and try the spray.
Sorry - I tried many searches assuming this had been covered but...
Has anyone tried painting over the char on laser cut BB plywood? I am cutting large letters on a 60watt and the char is all on...
beware of foam - foamcore usually has PVC and styrofoam flames up like crazy.
Fun foam is good if you are looking for a soft foam.
Depron is great (and laser safe) if you want a rigid foam.
Check...
I would suggest cleaning the charred edges.
If you have the time to wash and dry the wood, use murphy's oil soap, a scrubber sponge and warm water.
If you are worried about the water, get gojo...
Wow - thanks for the info!
Looking at johnson plastics' site, laserlights cost about 1/2 as much as the flexibrass. Is it worth it to use the flexibrass?
I'm guessing .020 vs .004, being stiffer...
Hi,
I'm sorry if this has already been asked but I didn't find anything with search...
A customer is asking for an order of rather complicated plaques in 1/8 acrylic. The plaques are for "this...
Looks awesome! Count me in!
Also, can't get to the cuttinggrids website!
The MSDS is incredibly important. One of my friends recently emailed Epilog asking how they found Neoprene that was PVC free.
Apparently the marketing department messed up and put up a sample...
To clean up the edges try fast orange hand cleaner. Epilog posted this tip on their site and it works great. Take the cleaner with no water added, put it on a stiff brush and scrub. I would...
Hrm... interesting - how much do they charge per sheet?
George is right however.....
if you are not looking for structural strength, then what you want is 2-ply wood-on-wood veneer. It is about 1/16 in thickness and is available in just about every...
So - any final results?
Orange pumice hand cleaner - put it on a very stiff brush and brush it in. The soot will come off easily
Ah the seasonal changes actually make a lot of sense - especially as the wood dries over time.
Since posting my camera's charger disappeared on me - will try to use a friend's over the weekend to...
Thanks Rodne
I guess I've just been scared into the mentality of 'anything that could have pvc in it probably does' but I suppose it woudn't make much sense to try to make a soft suede out of...
Sorry if this is a dumb question but Doe Suede - seems like polyester but no idea if there is PVC or if it will laser nicely. Does anyone know? Has anyone tried the stuff?
This was a solid piece of wood. I'll try to take a picture tonight and post.
