I have the Triton 2 1/2 and I love it. The abililty to change from above the table is great. It has good power. Absolutely no complaints and all for less than $250.
Love the cabinet, great work! I want to build one myself soon.
Can you use the incra or jointech fence systems on it. Or are there other modifications you would have to make?
I plan on building something similar. I am in one stall of 3 car garage and have one long wall. I plan on putting two benches along the wall with the MS in the middle. I am going to recess it and...
I have put in several hardwood floors and the pneumatic is awesome. Especially when putting in "hard" woods like brazilian cherry. They rent for usually $25 a day or $175 a week in my area. If you...
The pancakes do make a huge amount of noise. If you have a small shop and are not going to use your compressor for any heavy duty work I would definately advise going with a quieter compressor. I...
I picked up a Triton 2 1/4 HP and it works great for around $200. Also got the top review in FWW for plunge routers. I find it is very easy to change the bits when in my table as well.
I got the Dewalt DW 735 new in box on ebay for about $400 including shipping. I love it!! I went with it after reading the reviews in FWW where it got top marks. The two speeds are a key reason to...
I have a Dewalt DW735 planer that I got on ebay for 350 with shipping. It's awesome for a bench top! I hand plane for jointing right now until I have the funds for a jointer.
I just got the 8 inch slow speed grinder on sale at woodcraft for $80. You need good wheels. The ones that comes with it are good to start. But I plan on investing in the oneway wheels, better for...
I really like the Triton 2 1/4 HP Plunge router, model M0F001KC. Around $200 retail. Works great in a table as well.
I apprenticed "briefly" for a wood finisher/refinisher. We had to lay all the rags out separately to dry for a minimum of 24 hours. Then they could be put in trash bin. And we layed them out on...
I think the ideal would be to get 3 pieces from the board so that when you plane you have much less to take off. I find that waxing the planer more often helps when working with the harder wood. I...
I went with the Dewalt DW735. It got great reviews in FWW tool review. Very happy with it. And I got it about $200 cheaper than the store on ebay, even with shipping.
I have seen great compartmentalized containers at Gem Shows. They use them a lot in beading, but at the gem shows there are people who sell those things wholesale pretty cheap.
I have also heard great things about the jointech fence systems as well. Less expensive than the incra's but has the same features. Check out their website.
I got the Dewalt DW 735 on ebay couple weeks ago for $325 plus $50 shipping. Brand new in box. I love it!! I read the article in FWW and they are right on the money with this machine.
I think a top notch fence is worth the money, either an incra or jointech. The incra router fence with joiner jig is awesome. Makes easy dove tails and other joints.
With regards to the planer. I would highly recommend the Dewalt DW735. It was recently recommended by Fine Woodworking Magazine as their choice for a bench top. They run $550 not on sale. But I...
