.....Bedan.....
(All the extra dots are because the forum software would not allow me to write simply...Bedan. 10 character minimum)
I think that somewhere in the $30-$35 range would be reasonable. It looks like a nice bowl that would go well in a country kitchen. You may find that you will make another sale with the slightly...
If you are just filling cracks, you could always use the old CA/turquoise trick....Or CA/sawdust trick. The turquoise application always gets some attention and most people think its a great idea....
Hilel...You sound like an intelligent fellow. Now that it has been pointed out that the product in question was not manufactured by Oneway, there still appears to be a great amount of animosity...
Yep! Fiebings is the way to go.....USMC Black....It doesn't get any blacker. Application is quick and easy.....Dries in minutes. No muss, no fuss! Not expensive. It is by far the easiest way to...
Its been a while since I've done the silicon stoppers, but the 3/8 dowel for the tenon sounds right. You can turn the stopper mounted in a 3 or 4 jaw chuck by the tenon. I don't recommend this method...
It doesn't appear as if the entire photo was flipped...only the lathe, then the Jet logo replaced. The turner appears to be right handed.
It might not be a mistake! Someone in the graphics department probably thought the photo "worked better" with the turner on the left and the headstock on the right for logo purposes, then decided on...
Loctite Resinol 90c is one of the standard stabilizing agents used.....Works great!....Might be tough to find in smaller quantities.
Whatever................I liked your Golden Retriever avatar better......A girlfriend will dump you sooner or later, but your Golden will always be your best buddy!!!!! :)
How, may I ask, did you ruin 2 mechanisms? Were these CrushGrinds or Chef Specialties?
Try Oneway....They have many adapters.....Some in odd sizes.
Coolibah is typical Aussie Burl......Very hard and very beautiful. Keep your tools sharp. It has a tendency to form hairline cracks vertically from the eyes of the burl, if the burl is still fairly...
How about this?.....Don't be in a big hurry to make something out of this wood. Stash it away until your skills improve and a perfect idea comes to mind. At some point, a few years from now, you'll...
A reminder to everyone....DO NOT SMOKE CRACK!
If you are looking for some Aussie burl, try Double Dog Burl. Not too many people know about Double Dog. It is a sort of side business for the owners. They have some real nice jarrah, red mallee,...
Curtis....You are a walkin', talkin' disaster about to happen! I remember cautioning you over several safety concerns over the past 6 months or so. You don't seem to get it......Already you have been...
It hasn't been very good at shows so far this season. I've done 2 major national level shows and the numbers have been mediocre at best. My last show was at Boston Mills (Akron, Ohio area). I had...
I'll agree with the suggestion of Cherry. No open grain, develops a beautiful patina, and it cleans up nicely.
Jason.....I wish that I would have seen your post sooner.....I might have saved you some "head-scratchin'"!
I've had 2 remote switches go bad on my big Oneway. After the second one went bad, I...
Aaron....There are as many different ways to apply CA as there are penmakers.....I use the thin CA. Several drops on a Q-Tip and make a steady pass at a moderate lathe speed. (You can spritz...
Ya know Wally, You make several good points. Whose critique can you trust? Experience does not equal expert judgement. There are many fabulous turners who just visit here and read the posts, although...
Thin the first coat with an equal amount of mineral spirits so the Waterlox will achieve a deeper penetration. Reduce the mix of Waterlox to mineral spirits with each coat, gradually building up your...
Picasso once said.... "Art is the lie which enables us to see the truth"........I'm sure that'll clear things up!
