Thanks for bringing up the topic. When I first got involved in some of the woodturning forums I offered honest and open critiques but was often the only one to do so, so I quit. When I was deeply...
IF there are ten replies you are going to get ten different opinions! So not sure this will help. I based my recent camera on the many different reviews in magazines and the opinion of my son who is...
If you go here http://www.wmhtoolgroup.com/partfiles/man_708351B.pdf you will get the parts breakdown. You can call Jet and get a replacement at Consumer Relations

Last time I was at my dentist, I mentioned using a dental light to the assistant cleaning my teeth. She said, "Ask the dentist. He has several old ones in the basement." I did just that and he said...
I think it looks great, too. I might flatten the bottom. They need to be very stable to sit on communion tables, alters, wherever. I would think in terms of a regular plate--the bottom is usually...
You make a template of one swoosh and then sort of pivot it for four lines. I used my Dremel V Gouge and carved out the four lines for each side (4 V's for each side--make sense?) Then I took a very...
Three coats of Minwax Gloss wipe on poly and then Beall buffed. I know many turners don't like the poly but I think when it is buffed out smooth and waxed it is hard to tell the difference with...
14"x1". I'm sure many of you saw this platter in AAW magazine a few weeks ago. I hadn't tried the carving or stippling so wanted to give it a go. I couldn't do a bowl like he did because my piece of...
I think Ben nailed it. It's a nice form and just needs a little more refining with some nice gentle curves. Beautiful piece of wood. Hope you post it when you are finished.

As usual, I should have taken many more pictures to make this project clearer. First I turned the disk, inlcuding a slot for the staves (the vertical pieces for the weaving). It is from a piece of...
Can't add anything new, just re-empasize it, if you buy another scraper get the biggest, heftyist (is that a word?) one you can afford. But that heft will probably take off any wings of a NE bowl....
Not only is it a beautiful shape, wonderful wood and a great repair, you have taken the time to get a great finish. The finish makes the piece!

Now I have no idea what the counter means!.... :)
Wouldn't you know--it finally moved to 144 with this post! Earl
Just got curious. I know I'm not a prolific poster but sure thought I had done more than 143. Did a search and found out that the Posts counter in the upper right hand corner has been sitting on 143...
There sure isn't much keeping it together! Good job on saving it and very nice shape. Earl
Have to agree with what has been said, turns easy, soft, sharp tools, but the burl is absolutely gorgeous. I would take all I can get!

I was excited when I got my PM but I still haven't been able to find any wood anywhere near big enough to push the lathe. Where in the world would you find a 10' chunk of wood. And who has the crane...
Very nice! I enjoy seeing something different. Good job. Earl
Beautiful wood... plus a great collar and finial...what more can you do? Great job! Earl
I'd go with an insert of any plastic container of the appropriate size. If you are worried about water going between the insert and wood, just seal the edge with a bead of clear silicone caulk. I...
Be sure to post a link to the Peshtigo, WI Chamber of Commerce website when they have a feature article proclaiming your fame and fine artistry. :) Nice gavel. Earl
Should have looked at your pics first. You'll notice how low the tool rest is. That's what you need with it being adjustable to raise it. Go for C, no babbit, it has to be adjustable. You can get one...
If I'm following this correctly I think you will need something to make the tool rest far more adjustable. Just getting it to the center won't do it. Most of the time when you are using gouges the...
