I've been using a Bosch Model GOP40-30B to sand our Loewen window sashes in a basement shop. I applied tung oil in 2005 when we first moved in, but it's long outdue for a re-finish.

Verry nice.
Simple but elegant.
I have several older (not antique) planes that I should flatten the bottom (soles?).
How do 1.5"-2" thick granite cut-offs compared to float glass for this purpose?
I bought 2 sizes of blades from BC Saw & Tool, Toronto for my Bridgewood BS440 (about 17.25" dia. with 2HP motor)..
very pleased with their 1/2" x 3T x Carb- tipped & 1" x 3T x carb-tipped.
Cost...
I also used Loctite PL 300. Just make sure you / or props need to apply pressure during application.
I bought a Bridgewood 440 (Made in Italy) about 6-7 years ago on CL, really happy moving up from the Delta 14. Only annoying feature is that the starter buzzes so I need to un-plug when not operating.
Derek,
Can you comment on the hardness / toughness?
I applied Minwax's Polycrylic water-based finish on our interior trim and found it to be rather soft compared to an oil-based polyurethane....
About 5 years ago, I bought a used Bridgewood 17" bandsaw. I also bought a 2,000 lb. Warn electric winch to load it onto my pickup and down into our bulkhead stairs. I have several 5,000 lb. rated...
I bought a 15 gauge Hitiachi NT65MA2 to trim out our house interior in 2005. It's worked well, but would recommend a 16ga. for the head size. I did apply SS nails using that for an exterior trim...
Another vote for Whiteside.
I have a Left tilt Delta bought in 2004 and an pleased, but this looks pricey.
Like Andrew posted previously, I have a 3HP Tempest bought in 2005. I works well but I recall that the design support was somewhat lacking. I found that the fittings, dust-gates, and pipe cost as...
I bought a used Bridgewood Model BS 440 (wheels are about 17.25") maybe 4 years ago for $900. Mine says "Made in Italy". Be advised that the motor starter "hums" when off. I e-mailed to Wilkes (they...
I bought a used Delta DJ-20 back in 2004 from a RI seller (about 2 hours drive) on Taunton's website. The seller bought woodworking estates, kept what he wanted, then sold the rest to finance the...
I bought a (complete) BenchDog router table in 2004. I like the tracks that can mount feather boards for hold-downs.
I need to fabricate an exterior trim waterboard. I bought Miratec and the website recommends yellow carpenters glue.
Will Titebond III work OK?
Does the primer need to be scraped / machined...
I have a Tempest 3HP cyclone bought in 2005. Works well, but customer service was PITA then. I saved about 20% and would gladly pay more to have decent (better) response.
Try TractorSupply, Agrisupply, wellscroft - these place's cater to horse-owners and farmers.
I've been happy with blades from http://www.bcsaw.com/
I bought a used BS440 back in 2011. It's much more solid and smooth than the Delta 14" it replaced. I bought new blades from BC Saw, Toronto.
Only small annoyance is that that the (european)...
Our first floor is clear beech in alternating 4.25 & 5.25" widths. Milled by Tommila Bros - Fitzwilliam, NH.
It shrinks in the winter similar to maple.
Only negative feature is that although...
I use various GRK for carpentry. They have a 6-sided star drive, don't strip out, and if you get the coated models, they work great for decks. Also, some are rated for lag bolt replacement - work...
We had beech flooring installed over our radiant floor in 2004. It was sourced from Tommila in southern New Hampshire, where our builder advised to pick from. I recall that the mill said it would...
I bought some blades from BC Saw and Tool for a 17.5-inch Bridgewood. Theyve worked well.
Tim:
Our maple 1-1/2 inch thick island top overhang is 13-inches and has a cutout for a Wolf cooktop and Broan downdraft exhaust. It does sag. If I had to do over, maybe create slots for 3/8" x...
