WOW!!!!!!!!!!!:o
How bout a link?
Feel free to rip........... ;)
Here's mine. I've had it about three years now.
That's a great link Bob. Refreshes my memory. Spent a week at Bob Prothro's school back in the early 80's when he was still teaching there and this was one of the classes we took.
I'm Italian, so...........
I've used Camelia oil for the last 25 years and I've just never seen any reason to change. In 25 years I just ordered my second bottle 6 months ago so it does last a long time. I made an oiler by...
That's very interesting Manny. Thanks
Adjustable mouth.
Beautiful blades David, I have never seen anything like that and also never seen the serial numbers before on any blades. Nice planes too.
Thanks I looked up that link. maybe that will work on my blog as I seem to have the same problem there.
They really aren't that hard to do especially the Krenov style, you should try it.;)
The one I made is just about my favorite plane. The Krenov style high angle not so much. It is as good as any of my purchased Japanese planes but I don't have any Japanese planes that cost more than...
Thanks Dave, If I remember corectly it's East Indian Rosewood but an especially black piece ( it varies like a lot of ebony) and I'm sure some what easier to carve than ebony. I'll get to find out...
Since I can't seem to figure out how to add text after I include the pictures I'll just continue here. (Any help with this issue wiould be appreciated PM me) So this is a Krenov style Japanese pull...
All these answers are good as described. I have done both and while the Krenov plane is perhaps a little easier I got the best results chopping out the dia (plane body) and using a Japanese plane...

I have to chime in here too and agree with Hank & Pam and I'm sure Wilbur Pan would feel the same way. How many times do we who use Japanese tools everyday and have for over 30 years have to defend...
Shame on you Bill! Please don't head down that path. When someone shares something they have made with us there is no need to read something else into it or no one will post their work for fear...
I taught a class this weekend where we made three Krenov style planes bedded at 55 degrees with no chip breakers and all three worked fine. :)
Mike,
I know from my reading of your posts that you will NEVER GET the spiritual aspects of anything! It's not in your nature. You are an engineer and I don't expect you to see life from the other...
I know that Mike has been busy moving into his new much larger shop and has stated he is behind in his correspondence.
;) Well done Wilbur. It sometimes suprises me what lengths we have to go to prove how superior Japanese tools are to their western counterparts.
I'll just sit back and wait for the fallout...
I'll make a third on that combo and my 8000 is also a King.
That would be for planing the bevel on the edge of a door but it's useless without the router to go in it.:(
