Lee Valley - Gotta love 'em!

UPS dropped off a package from Lee Valley yesterday. This was a bit of a surprise since I didn't have anything on order from them (this week!). Inside was the following letter:

    "RE: 05P39.50...

Woodcraft also has them on sale. If you live near one, Woodcraft's is a better deal since you don't pay shipping and you can check it for flatness before you buy. I've built two benchs from these...

I use the same setup as Bill Huber. I like the SawJaw because it's simple, protects the blades teeth and makes installing and removing blades a piece of cake.

David, I got the idea that the iron in the Mujingfang polishing plane is made from A2 steel from The Japan Woodworker catalog. I did finally use a extra coarse diamond stone to get the back flat....
  9. What's the difference between a smoothing plane and a polishing plane?

I've seen polishing planes advertised in the Japan Woodworker catalog and was intrigued by the name. The name implies to me that this plane it will leave a smoother (e.g. polished) surface than I...

Poll: Not worth the time for me.

I had one a few years ago. I was never able to consistently get the wheel and tool rests parallel to each other. The results where always uneven and led to non-square blades. I dumped it on eBay.

    Works fine for me.

I've been using breather mesh from Joe Woodworker (VeneerSupplies dot com) for a couple of years now with no problems. I prefer the mesh to making and storing platens.

Not a good picture, but it looks like the motor is on the right side. If so, it's a right tilt. Considering the included dust collector $900 is (in my opinion) just a 'OK' price.
