I have several projects which I have tried to "micro-size".
Have been using Cedar, Oak and Maple woods. About 3/16 inch square and some 3/16 x 3/32 thick. Havent had a problem ripping them...

I have been told by my local paint store that for sanding on bare wood to use Garnet sandpaper, not aluminum...

OK People.... I am completely new at all of this. This is the first cabinet I ever built with BLO and oil varnish finish.

By way of explanation, I applied gloss varnish over BLO...didnt like the mirror appearance; then applied one coat satin varnish ...got a "dull" look, dont like it.

I think I will try the shellack over the poly.
Can the Shellack be cut with mineral spirits for wipe on? If so, is the proportion 50/50? And finally, how long between coats?

My newly sanded Black Walnut wood exhibits some spots…they appear to be a deposit of sanding dust. The wood pieces have all been sanded to 220 grit ready for finish. There’s not a lot of spots...
