Which brands of gouges offer a parabolic flute?
I have started to follow Mr. Batty's teaching and have ground my 3/8 and 1/2 Thompson V gouges to a 40/40. Not straight but a slight curve. I have not turned enough to comment on the 40/40. I have a...
I have been slopping paint on logs for a number of years and recently added a plastic layer as Reed stated. Some logs are destined to split but I am having good success. Longest I have stored logs...
I have run out of room to store wood, but I would not pass that up either. Nice!
Thanks, the body is not warped and is square, after thinking about it I will keep it and clean as suggested.
I have had this plane for quite some time and never done anything with it. I would say it is in workable condition. There is only light checking on the nose and surface rust. My internet searches...
I am doing segmented work almost all the time. I would not buy the stomper. It is a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. At least for me! Thom, I have seen results of tests with different...
I like the bowl and the way you followed the grain lines. I like your shape on the 'thing'. I have been collecting dyes and have thought of coloring plain unfigured pieces. Some don't like color,...
Domestic, great! Thin AND pierced, gotta love it!
Very nice. Osage orange is one of my favorite woods. There a lot of stresses in this wood. Was it domestic or South American? The South American seems more stable, but I like to go out and...
I agree with everyone. Excellent form and highlites. I especially like the surprise work on the inside of the lid. I will have to try, try! to copy it!
Easy! Follow Alan's advice!
If your talking about the universal base of the wolveriene system I might can help. The cam that locks each jig can be removed and switched so that the arm swings on the left or right. That way...
I agree you should watch the old free content first. His presentation is good and his knowledge is good also. I wouldn't pay for it. I have seen only one video that I have used. His video on...
I am entering this discussion a little late but what the heck! Best discussion I have read on bandsaws, at least it agrees with I have found as true. Julie you have one nice shop!
Either should serve you well. I am a Baldor fan, but as you said Leeson is a close second. I have Baldors.
That video is another example of how they have dumbed down their content to appeal to the masses. Appeal to the masses and you get more subscriptions.
Are the tubes pressed into the trunion. Maybe you can remove them and replace with steel. The washer sounds like a good idea if it doesn't cause alignment problems when you tighten the bolts.
Your piece is easily a stand alone vessel. If you pyro do it justice!
WOW, love the feature ring. As soon as i think I have my mind wraped around the design I see another component. Very good job.
I have used school glue for years to adhere my scrollsaw paterns. Not familiar with that product, will look for it!
Thanks Guys. Waiting for the money. I am leaning for both power and hand tools. To have both seems the smart thing to do!
I have been a woodworker for over 30 years and I am ready to challenge myself again. I want to build an 18th century pie crust table complete with the carvings. I have done a little chip carving...
Nick, For years I set my jointer like John. He is finding top-dead-center for the knives using the straight edge. I thought I had a pretty good system till I read the set-up procedure used by the...
Bois d'Arc (osage Orange) was given that name by the French. They saw the Native Americans using short powerful bows made from the limbs of the tree.
