We started with 1x4 pine. We planed it down to 1/2" thickness and made 1" x 1/2" slats. He got to use the planer and the drill press. But he was in charge of marking all the cuts but I did those,...

My 11 year old designed and built his first wood project with me this weekend. He saw someone selling a similar project at a craft store for over $200. He like me said to himself, I can build that!...
I fixed it last night. The repair is solid and looks decent.
Thanks everyone. I'll widen and fill with a wood piece. I still can't believe I messed up this bad. I was about to curl up in the corner and cry.
I made a big oops and while cutting a corner dado in a table leg my router fence slipped and now I have a very cool curved dado..... DOH! Thankfully I am painting the leg, what is the prefered way...
I am planning on using figure 8 fasteners to attach the top.
How much would the dovetail weaken the apron? It is 1" thick, I was thinking to go 3/8" deep.
Do you think I should put in an...
Thanks, I think I will try the sliding dovetails. after I practice on scrap a few times :-)
I appreciate the suggestion.
I like the dovetail idea. Would the loose tenon or dowel provide strength since it would still be face grain to end grain? Obvious this is easier :-) I've never cut a dovetail slot in the middle...
I have finally moved beyond milling the wood for my kitchen table. I have the outside frame now dry fitted but I know I need to put in one or two support crossbars. I’m a bit stumped about the best...
I have the Delta sander and have not been able to get the conveyor belt to not pull to one side or the other. Is there a trick to the adjustment? It drives me crazy.
I use mineral oil and after than I rub in bees wax I get from a local beekeeper. It seems to make the luster last and it smells great. Every once in a while I re-apply the oil and rub in more wax. ...
88% fingers.... what else is getting cut? dare I ask.
I love having a saw with a riving knife, although I still have a healthy respect for the blade.
Wow, awesome!
Thanks guys, I hope the table comes out well. Amazing story Peter, I'm sure your table looked awesome and is well loved.
It isn't twisting as I mill it. It seems very stable. Adding pictures because I know it didn't happen unless I post them :-) It is interesting to see the color variations in the wood of the air...
Well, I have had a ton of rough cut walnut in air drying in my garage stickered for 3 years. I got the lumber from the back of a trailer via a friend that referred him. It is finally time for me...
Thanks, I have a Delta sander and hope that I don't have this go bad but now I know what to do if it does.
Picked it up today the motor is the same diameter as the 890 so it should work in the lift. I'm looking forward to it.
Thanks, that is the same diameter as the 690/890, I'm going to give it a shot. I can always return it if doesn't fit. I hope my wife doesn't notice another router in the garage.
It is the Mast-R-Lift but the version I have isn't sized the the 7518 routers. I bought it before I knew the difference.
Does anyone who has this router know the motor diameter? My router table lift is sized to fit the porter cable 690/890 router not the 7518 router motor size. It is a Jessem but I didn't realize...
awesome job!
90% through bricking my outdoor kitchen. Working with brick officially sucks.

Glad you are ok.
Thanks for the dedication to the kids!
