I recently acquired a stack of maple from an estate sale auction, and in it was a wedge-shaped piece about 18 by 24. I was hungry for pizza, so I saw no other option but.....

It's just a small quartz movement I bought at the hardware store for $9-$10... I bought them before and they seem to last for years.... YMMV

It's just a quartz movement. The bottom half would be for the pendulum if it was powered by spring/pendulum. I plan to have a quartz movement in mine as well, just for simplicity and economy. ...

WOW! Looks great! the figure is outstanding! Certainly beats anything I've made! The white banding helps to define the shape of the piece. I like it a lot!

I found a downloadable clockface on the net, added my name and adjusted the size with MSPaint, and printed out and glued to a backerboard. A single coat of shellac gives the paper an instant aged...
Auction is next week. I'm sure it will find a good home!

That looks great! I like the details. The finish will mellow to a nice light pumkin color in a few years. Nice work!
