Well? Did you get it fixed?
Don't forget to check your grounding wire. Goofy stuff starts happening when static builds up.
Put your volt meter on the 5V terminals coming from your power supply. I bet it blew. Mine did recently. I grabbed one out of an old PC and it worked again. Make sure to switch the PC power supply...
Seemed like it was going to be a no go but I got a little help from a gentleman in Denmark on Facebook.
Turns out it wasn't so hard. Turns out I had it right but water protect was keeping laser...
Trying to get over to LightBurn, which is a new, English, replacement for RDWorks and others but not Leetro yet.
I just bought a Ruida 6442 controller and am having difficulty getting the wires...
Seems that you should check you alignment as well. If the beam is centered then it won't hit the cone....exact center.
But what's the power of the laser?
Depends on:
Power. If you are running at 180 W 100% Which I have done trying to depth engrave then the lens can get hot and crack....probably wasn't enough air.
Dirt on the lens. Dirt absorbs...
I read the rest of your post. I don't know if you'd read my past post about taking my bearing apart. I took one ball out of each and it really does slide much smoother and still without play. Thanks...
Thanks Kev. I will try loosening the belt as well but for now I'm all smiles. Next MDF for a woodier look. I don't think wood grain will allow me to get a decent result.
Alright, I fee REEEAL SILLY right now but I'm going to share anyway. I solved the problem. In fact, I had already solved the problem before I started this thread.
I HAD the banding as you saw...
You might notice using a longer focal length lens that the cone is warm or hot to the touch after use because the beam hasn't come together enough when it exits. I have and extra cone that I cut wide...
What if you were to draw a box around it would it still happen? If not then make a box that is so low power that it doesn't mark.
Bert, Could it be that by chance, your lens failed? I had this happen once after a long engraving session on high power.
vertical banding. I know it is from my belt because it is spaced the same as my belt notches but I cannot figure out the mechanism by which it happens.
At 1000mm/sec or say at 400 I still get it so...
Try HIGH pressure air and short focal length lens if you want to cut. That is what I use to cut polyester which tends to make the same smoke show. Not sure if that will help with engraving.
Yes. Is the color a coating?
Now THAT'S cool!

This was done on scrap 20mm MDF so some of the cuts from the back side showed through.
Trying on other media so that I can get yet more detail.
Looks like you have a color laser! : ) What is with the colors?
Air filter/evac?
Would be nice to have an upvote button for fantastic projects.
You bet. I was kind of hoping it WAS the main board as I think RDworks might have better engraving controls. Oh well ( ;
Forgot to get back regarding my Control pad.
I took a couple weeks off from cutting after Christmas as I was just sure it was the main board.
I pull out my little used multimeter and found that the...
