I second the suggestion to ask on one of the several machinist forums. However... as it happens, I have a Tida 5 (rebadged by Wholesale Tool). It's a 12"x36". I think the Tida 4 was a 10" swing.

I have a Phase 2, available from Enco. It may not be an Aloris, but at 1/3 of the price it's much better value for the hobbyist.
I'd go for the shaper, but purely on the basis of the cool factor. (Think of it as "machinist retro".)
What are you really trying to do?
It's not an either-or situation. The local site must have a modem to call the remote site. The local site may also have other kinds of networks connected to it (DSL, cable, satelite, fiber, ...). ...

It will be easier to understand if you separate into two parts:
Remote access (for any kind of data) to the computer.
Capture of a picture on the computer.
The reason the two parts...
Just as there are woodworking organizations and woodworking forums on the net, there are blacksmithing organizations and blacksmithing forums on the net. I recommend you seek them out even if you do...
That is gorgeous!
Say more, please, about setting the stainless pins. I thought that pins were usually soft (e.g. brass) so you could peen them for a tight fit. Do you peen (hammer on, to...
Mentally, I divide my metalworking tools into 3 top-level categories. A project might cross into more than one category, but many don't.
If I'm primarily cutting into bigger blocks of metal, if I...
Pen turners glue brass to all sorts of woods using a process very much like what you're proposing. (Roughen, solvent clean, epoxy.) Go for it!
Michael, I'd love to hear more (perhaps in the MetalWorking forum?) about welding the drill rod for a ding-free toolrest. That is something I've wanted to do for a while, but been a little...
... And when there's more wood shavings than lint in the dryer filter.
Absolutely wonderful, Scott!
For someone who likes Tin Tin, or perhaps Miyazaki, this brings more than a smile; it brings a great big grin.
We have one Golden. But her brother (same parents, different litter) lives across the street, so we get the best of both worlds.

I'm not suggesting you delete all the cookies, just the ones that are tracking you in an unwanted way.
Agree with the sentiment completely. For me, having my hands/brain cells directly...
Nothing against running multiple browsers, but it's a lot easier to just delete the cookies.
Not boat-related, but close: what do people recommend for outdoor teak furniture? A straight oil finish seems to be encouraging the growth of mildew.
Don't plug either port. You are measuring a difference in pressure. (Often called a drop in pressure.) Even if it's a difference between some place in the ducts, and plain ol' atmospheric pressure...
The biggest single collection of old machinery pics is probably at http://lathes.co.uk/ . But that's a needle-in-haystack business if you don't have any other identifying marks to narrow the search....
Lots of good advice here, Roger.
Let me just emphasize one point mentioned above, but you may miss it in the flood of info: get an auto-darkening helmet. Especially when you're starting out, the...
I think the idea is that the bearings are "in series" with respect to the airflow; the unwanted escaping air has to flow through one and then through the other. There's a single path for leakage...
Number one piece of advice is the same as woodworking: try it and see, on a piece of scrap first.
That said, I suspect that most welding calculators will give you a recommendation that's out...
I'll go with 245. Very generous of you, Kathy!
Surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet - clear your chips often. A drill is much more likely to wander off course with flutes packed full of debris that can't escape.
An old Luxo desk lamp, with a piece of 2x4 replacing the original clamp-on pivot socket. Adjustable in both height and distance from the wall, although you've got to have the pivot fairly far from...
