Excellent chisels! (And with rosewood handles!) If I didn't already have a set...please, someone grab these...
That is one beautiful axe! If I didn't already have two (or three) carving axes...
Wow! Great plane at a great price! If I didn't already have one...
So at that price, you're basically giving that unit away! I wish I had your knowledge and skill in restoring old equipment like that. You've done an amazing job. Good luck with the sale!
Sorry to hear about your wife. Yes, tools can always be replaced...
Dang, Dale! Are you liquidating all of your tools? Hope you're not getting out of woodworking. Just saw some of your work online. Nice stuff! As far as these tools, I would've snatched them up at...
PM sent for the Oneway Bowl Steady Rest.

If I didn't already have one, I'd have jumped on it before the price was lowered...
GLWS!
Yup. LN's customer service (like Lee Valley's) is top-notch. I've had similar experiences with them.
Very interesting and useful information on this thread. Thanks, John!
Seriously, Bob...that's beautiful work. The largest thing I've ever built was a Shaker Chest of Drawers (obviously, with no embellishments). And that took me six months! I can't even wrap my head...
Really nice frame, Brian. And the photography showing the details are very much appreciated. BTW, where did you get your holdfasts? :D

Buck,
At the local Woodcraft, cherry sells at about $12.95 bf. At two other hardwood dealers: $5.75 & $5.95 per bf.
Thanks to you all for your replies. I believe I'll just have to select more stock with darker-colored heartwood for the show sides, and use the sap wood for non-show sections. Mahalo!
I'm going to try and build the chest of drawers described in "The Joiner and Cabinet Maker" book and I want to build it out of cherry. While selecting the various parts from my meager stock of...
John,
I've already got a couple of awesome smoothers, but I just wanted to say I think it's great that you're willing to share a good tool with a fellow woodworker. Mahalo!
As the owner of two pairs of Jr.'s holdfasts, I can vouch for their quality. I also own a pair of the Gramercy holdfasts, but Jr.'s are always the first ones I reach for. It has just enough spring...
Great work, Stewie! I only wish I had an eye for design. Nonetheless, I can appreciate your work.
This saw looks "almost" as good as the dovetail saw Klaus and Pedder made for me last year :) That is definitely my favorite DT saw - not only for its aesthetics, but also due Klaus' exquisitely...
Thanks for the advice, everyone! As usual, you all are a great source of information.
Mahalo!

I've never sharpened a saw, but would like to start. Any suggestions on good saw sharpening books or DVDs would be most welcome. Also, is a filing guide necessary or recommended for someone new to...
I have some rough 4/4 poplar boards about 8" wide and wish to joint them to make a shelf. I'm shooting for a final dimension of about 12" wide and 3/4" thick. Should I make sure that each board is...
I am fortunate enough to have a set of LN bench chisels and Blue Spruce bench chisels. And although I love them both, I find myself reaching for the Blue Spruce chisels about 75% of the time. (I'm...
...but unless you have a video recording of you making those beautiful dovetail drawers yourself, I'm thinking those were cut by Rob himself...:D
All kidding aside, great job!
