I cut some Baltic Birch last year with my 40W laser. The glue definitely makes a difference.
If you buy laser grade baltic birch, it should have the better glue. It didn't leave the...

Hi
Does anyone know where I can get a small amount of Thermark paste from in the UK? (At a reasonable price)
Also, what is the preference for "Brushed stainless steel plate" LMM14 or LMM6000 ?...
Thanks for the suggestions.
We'll probably be going with the one of the spray adhesive options due to it being a popular choice with the members and the size of the pieces that I need to cut.
Hi all,
I have been asked to cut some large pieces of veneer. Could be up to approximately 500mm X 350 mm.
Any recomendations as to the best way to hold it flat and ripple free while...
Heres another one in the public domain from wikimedia commons:

Haven't tried lasering it yet but hope to some time.
Ive used:
Speed = 500mm/s
Power = 40%
DPI = 300.
This can need more passes depending on the colour / density of the Bamboo.
Thanks to all for your advice.
I like the sound of the water bath.....Great idea! I haden't thougth of that one. I'm assuming that the beam is too weak at that distance to cause any steaming....I...

Hi Tim,
Just for the record, GM seems to work fine for me in CS3. What version are you using?
Linda,
Your photo looks good.
In my opinion you can do a lot more with Photoshop and since you can get the gold method for free.
There are also a lot of free tutorials and actions that are available and these can lead to all...
Hi Margaret,
I thinkt the .prt file would be a Unigraphics 3d or possibly a PRO Engineer CAD file. Probably Unigraphics in this case.
I was able to read the dxf file into Solidworks but there...
Thanks for sharing your experiences David. Those signs look great!
Just a thought...I haven't tried this but.....If you did drop the part out of focus and apply more power, would this give a larger width of cut and reduces chances of the material welding back...
Hi Miguel,
I use Lasercut 5.1 and have had the "soft stop" warning too.
I could be wrong but I think that "soft Stop" it is the machine saying it will not run because the data to be cut runs off...
Bonjour Les,

Unfortunately, I do not have any plans but after seeing your work, I am thinking of designing some myself ( I have 3d...
I would lightly sand with fine grade paper. Be carefull if you have lots of fine detail that has been cut, the facing material on the ply may splinter....depends on the quality of ply.
Also to...
Hi Bill,

Nice work! Thanks for sharing Niklas.
Hi Simon,
I have the same problem. Turning the power right down, per Scotts recommendation seams to work for solid graphics.
However, for bitmaps I need more power to get good definition and...
Hi Zlatko,
Thank you very much for your explanation and pictures. There's no need to send me any further information but others may be interested. I have some local clients that can help me out...
Nice work Zlatko,
Did you make the LED assembly yourself? If you made it yourself, can you let me know if there were any difficulties?
I've been looking for something similar that is...
