I tried spray on teflon and at first it worked well. Then it became difficult to even get the gear to begin to turn. Back to spray on lithium. Much better lubrication, lasts a lot longer than dry...
1/2" Woodslicer. Exceptional cut and finish.

This is the PSI heavy duty bottle opener. Very nice piece- I think. Been using it for about 3-4 months. Looks good, finish is nice, works well. Took me about 30 minutes to turn, finish, and...
Beautiful. The finish looks perfect.
G0766- I agree. Plenty left for accessories...or a bandsaw. My G0766 has not disappointed me from spindles to bowls to pens. I've turned hundreds of pens. It's a kind of funny sight to see a tiny pen...
I use 2 part epoxy. Overfill and turn off the excess. I have used 5 minute epoxy but I think 30 minute is supposed to be stronger. Never had a problem with it.
I opened the thread and saw the box defore I read anything. Holy Cow! was my response. Beautiful wood turned into a beautiful presentation.
Mix saw dust into 5 minute 2 part epoxy and let it set up completely. You can pare it with a sharp chisel back down to level. When you finish it with poly the surrounding wood will assume the same...
I agree. I have some Woodpeckers tools and love them. I watched the videos showing their tools construction processes and the quality is exceptional. Unfortunately- their pricing keeps me out of...
It's pecan. I was lucky enough to happen by a city park when they were trimming some very large trees. I got a truck-bed full of very nice logs. Oddly enough- it was from Pecan Park. The logs were...

Two tops with blue and pink highlights and an acorn. Christmas gifts.
I think you're fine. I wear a heavy apron and a full face shield. I wear tight fitting heavy gloves when roughing out and I have turned some pieces similar to that. I have also had some come apart on...

This not gold- but the process is the same and I have used copper and it looks just like copper.
I go to Hobby Lobby and get a container of "extra fine" glitter. The flakes are so small...
That's very cool. I like projects with a meaning. That would make a great pepper grinder design.
I just did this with some 10' cherry. I took the boards to a local shop and they straight-line ripped them for me. Very cheap- I think I had 6 or 8 boards and it was 20$. I then used an edge plane...
My critique....beautiful!
Compost, meat smoker where appropriate, fireplace, packing material for shipped projects.
Well- I'm confused. All I know is that I had a 1 1/2 HP lathe before I bought the 766. The 766 is dramatically more powerful and capable than my old 1 1/2 HP lathe. I'm happy with it. I'm glad there...
Our mixer broke. The motor burned up most likely from being overloaded during some mashed potato mashing. I brought my cordless drill in (after blowing it off and wiping it with one of my cleanest...
Lacquer or poly
I'll give this a shot. I've worked a lot of cypress over the years- love it- especially quarter sawn. I've used numerous types of finishes and I've come to the conclusion that cypress is soft as...
Beautiful! My favorite wood in my favorite style. Nicely done.
Nice tailstock.
I have a Sorby that I think fits your profile. It's very consistent and accurately ground.
