I meant the cone comes off but it holds the lens in place so the machine can't function properly without a cone attached. I/ll inspect the mirrors again but either way I'm replacing them today.
UPDATE: I changed the focus lens and got a bit sharper line but am still getting the ghost lines no matter where the head is on the table. Please see picture. Next are the 3 mirrors that are supposed...
I'm still waiting on a new focus lens to arrive. After cleaning the mirrors and lens again it seems the focus lens has a 2mm burn circle off center that is easy to see with a magnifier. I'm hoping...
Hi Bert - Actually, no. I'm still running tests to determine why it persists even after checking alignment and cleaning/inspecting mirrors. I can't see the exit glass on the tube itself so removing...
Hi Kev - I very much appreciate your input and will be able to work on the machine this afternoon and will report back when the issue is solved - hopefully - today. Many thanks for the help!
The attached photo shows what's happening when cutting (all the time) and engraving (some of the time). The machine is one of the 100 watt Chinese Orion (OME, OMX) that has worked well for 2 years....
Count me in.
Thank you Mike Null & The Creek!
Jack,
Excellent information! It works out to a conservative $4 per piece (@ Bill's WJ pricing) plus material and shipping costs.
I suppose an entry level WJ is still not cost effective for...
Jack,
Would you be gracious enough to run this quickie sample through your WJ software? A tolerance of +/- .010 is fine and the stainless is .09375 thick. How much deformation might there be on a...
The cutout is quite smooth, no burr or file marks so I did not think die cutting was used.
Water jet appears to be a viable solution. Can anybody share info regarding cost comparison between WJ...
What kind of laser would you need to cut this stainless pendant? I know my 30 watt Co2 won't do it. Is this done with a Yag setup or a high wattage unit (Kern...)?
For short runs, it would seem...
Add me to the list.
Many thanks for the drawing!
Please count me in.
Thank you!
Thank you LaserArts!
We're in.
Our family sends condolences to Keith and family on this very sad news.

WOW! The observations and suggestions made by all of you are remarkably informative and helpful. I enjoy the occasional slap to the head...wake up call! There will be some simple design and...
Being a relative laser newbie I would like any positive , neutral or NEGATIVE comments regarding this simple GOP promo for a shop in St. Paul, MN.
The convention starts in a few weeks and I was...
Can someone suggest an option for the mega water building up in this system. The pump is a medical/oiless unit, the filter/gauge unit is typical and the poly line between them is only six feet long....
Joe- Thanks very much for the reference. It amazes me that you and others at the Creek have "already done that, been there" time after time. I may have to expand my substrate horizons in order to...
Is there a way to mark 14 k gold? Anyone used Thermark LLM-14 or other method? I can scuff the gold to be less reflective if necessary. The marks need to be on 1/4"x1/4" (1/32" thick) gold so I...
Gene- I was wondering if the new stepper & belt resolved the skipping issue? If not, what was the outcome with SignWarehouse? Thank you.

Steve/Scott, Thanks for responding to my question. If the page size was mismatched why would the origin point be where I want it to begin for the initial file and yet upon resending the identical...
I send a file from X3 to the laser and the origin point is correct as well as the vectored piece. I can repeat the job if necessary with the copy function on the laser panel.
The problem is if I...
