I've been turning for about 3 years now in my spare time (still working full time). I would like to get into segmented turning. One of the guys in our club is going to give lessons. He says we can...
Thanks for the advice guys. The wood is dry and it has soaked the oil up good. I think I will go with Gary's suggestion and wait a couple of days. I want to be able to use it for food, but at the...
I turned a small utility bowl and I'm using Mahoney's walnut Utility Oil on it. Actually I have already applied it. I am also planning on using Mahoney's wax which is walnut oil, beeswax and carnuba...
188472Here is the picture of the remote switch that I didn't know how to upload earlier. Steve was good enough to send me the instructions. Which BTW I better hang onto. :)
The compressed air sounds like a winner. I can just blow it out ever time I finish a project and clean up the lathe. Good idea.
Mike, I bought me a second switch when I ordered the switch. I guess the dust problem you're talking about is in the switch and not in the connections. So for $4.50 I can replace the actual switch....
I got it done. I ended up getting a box from Lowe's and ordering me an on/off switch from Grizzly. I spent about $25, but it looks and works like the real thing. Thanks to all that took the time...
Thanks Mike. I'll try to find that article.
Faust,
Thanks for the info. It sounds like I may want to stay away from the PM switches. The motor on my PM lathe started making noise before I had it a year. They sent me a new motor right...
I used my friends Stuby lathe recently. He has a nice remote on/off switch that came with the lathe. It's about 4" x 4" and has separate buttons for on and off. I liked it.
I feel it is a huge...
Tony. I've already run a 10 gauge wire. So I guess I'll be good there. Thanks for the input.
All good thoughts. Thanks Steve.
Thanks Tony. It looks like I'll be buying a cord.
Just an update. I ordered the 3520B today. I got cold feet and ordered it from the local guy for an extra $200. But I do have a question about the length of the power cord that comes with it. ...
Bob, I live out in the country about 10 miles from the nearest town. I'm hoping they will bring it out there and set it on the pad in front of my garage. I'll need to ask them a few more questions...
Yes, that does help. Sounds like it would be kind of a messy work around. I think i will probably do the wiring. Thanks.
I have a woodturners meeting Tuesday night. I'll find out what kind of stepup they have on the lathes there. And maybe I can find out what they cost.
Hey guys and gals, it sounds like Toolnut is the place to go. I had almost decided to go with the local outfit, but now I'm thinking I will probably go with Toolnut. While I have all of your wealth...
I am looking to buy a 3520b Powermatic lathe. The cheapest price I've found is Toolnut. They are $200 cheaper than I could buy it here locally. Would any of you Woodturners have reservations about...
