X2, that looks like an awesome chuck.
I was there a few weeks ago and didn't really find anything woodworking related to do. I was pretty bored the whole time.
Vicmarc, heaviest chuck that I've found, I own 2 and wish I had a third.
Redwing pull on work boots. I hate going barefoot, my wife says she's never met anyone that wears shoes from the time I get up until it's time for bed. I don't think I could stand the shavings...
The movers would be buying me a new lathe. It might be repairable but problems might show up later.
While I like powermatic lathes, and it looks like an awesome lathe, for that price I could get a loaded Robust. My main reason for choosing a robust was the headstock, your more able to get behind...
Did I read the specs correctly that it's a 3 phase 3HP motor?
It was a good time, after bearing replacement, Nate turned, I cut up bowl blanks, and we swapped stories. Too bad we didn't think about a picture together. Pebo, Nate's shop dog was awesome in the...
Thanks all. I've decided on another route thanks to a fellow member.
Thanks Faust, I will use that, I read it before and just started thinking about putting something together.

That's some mighty nice maple. Wish I could have met you but alas, work took priority.
I've used them, only broken one and that was my fault, I was forcing the log in. I've worn several out.
I dropped it on purpose, it was headed for the firewood pile anyway due to large cracking issues. Nate, enjoyed the day, even though I don't think I'll be getting McNaughton any time soon. Maybe...
That is one purty chunk of wood.
Mine just sits in a drawer of my turning cabinet.
Just let me know Greg, I'll PM you my number.
And I've one more maple that I'm dropping sometime this winter.
Nate, I really appreciated the help, and I have more maple then I'll be able to turn anytime this year. Nate mentioned a wood swap and I haven't turned any Mesquite before. I'll cut a round blank...
I just got back, it was a great time, also met another Creeker there, Greg, from the coast, we chatted a lot, came home with a lighter wallet, another vicmarc chuck, box elder log, and several other...
Glue up.
Problem: Glue cures on brush during large glue ups, between moving stuff and assembly.
Solution: I usually use an acid brush, to prevent the glue on the brush from curing, I use one of...
I'm there. But you already knew that. :)
When turning square bowls, or any shape that is not round, I place a white paper towel on the bed, under the piece so I can see the shadow of the edges better.
My OCD kicks in about the third bowl and I dig out the broom and shovel, that and I can't stand to walk on the shavings.
