Travis, for walnut in our area, the price looks interesting, but, it's only been stacked for two months, so I'm guessing it will need quite a bit more drying time. I wonder what the moisture is?
I'm thinking that walnut will take another 10-12 months to reach 10-12% MC.
Where did I put that tape measure...
A big lumber supplier around here has walnut for $3.01 a BF 4/4 if purchasing over 500 BF in #1 common grade. Select and better 6-7 foot is about $4 and longer is about $4.50.
Depending on how good the majority of the stuff is and widths (the boards look wide) then it may be a good deal if you aren't looking for anything to use today.

I'm guessing that in your area that's a good price. It is however some real good looking stuff - nice wide boards and - at least from the pics - not many knots. And like the ad says, not much sapwood. Heck, even around here that wouldn't be bad for that quality - only around here you might not have to buy the whole pile to get it for $3.
The best part is that it hasn't gone into a kiln yet, so the colors are still good. Let it dry 6 more months then have it kilned at a reputable place.
Personally I think its a bit on the high side since if you have to take the whole stack and unless he sorted out the #2 stuff there will be a fair amount of that too.
I've never had lumber kiln dried that I have sawed. I stack it outside for a full six months then move it into a closed building and sticker it again and don't touch for another 6 months and I have never had any issues with warping or otherwise. Been doing it that way for 15 years now. I prefer the natural color of air dried wood anyway, especially walnut.

$3.50/BF here in CO is a great deal IMO!
The times I've purchased Walnut from any of the various lumber dealers around town, I've generally paid between $8-$10/BF for decent 4/4 stock.
I agree with the other guys that you might need to let it dry for quite a bit longer before it's usable though.
Definately needs to dry a bit longer! 8-10 months min. But the price is right. In Utah, I can't touch walnut for less than $4.00 b/f. I would snap it up!
