Hello everyone.

I was wondering is it possible to laser sterling silver. I had a jeweler bring in a pendent today wanting it laser engraved and didn't want to mess it up.


I have a Epilog Helix 45 Watt

Gene, yes it can be done using Cermark for co2, but the results can be inconsistent and akin to engraving brass. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I have found that on occasions when using quality metals, cermark needs to have a reduced speed to recommened metal marking and with max power. If you don't get a really good mark, be prepared to polish it out, half a mark is not very nice, I would suggest you try it on something that is expendable, perhaps a silver spoon where if necessary to polish out, it can be done without too much problem.
