    Hartville Tool Duplex Plane

I understand that Hartville Tool has hand planes for half price. Does anyone know about the quality of their Duplex Plane?

    Thumbs up Ok

I bought one once before on sale and it was OK for a spare in my tool box. I really ordered it, and just today two others, for the handles. Very nice and I swap them with my old Stanley's. Can't beat the price.

Does anyone know what brand of planes Hartville carries?

I see the duplex rabbeting plane for $29.98 and the Jack for $17.48. Double that for the regular price and it seems like the price of an Anant.

I just checked some pictures and it looks more like the Grizzly than the Anant.

Whatever the case, in that price range, you can expect hours of filing and fettling, after which you may or may not have a decent plane. I bought a couple of Anants early on. The 4-1/2 is a user after many hours of adjustments. The Bullnose Rabbet plane, after even more work, can be used, but only until I can afford a better one.
Veni Vidi Vendi Vente! I came, I saw, I bought a large coffee!
