    I assume a router and a jig?

Actually it was much simpler, I just used a hole saw and then cut the board in half...so you get 2 rails from one board... does that make sense???

I had to use my little drum sander to clean-up the holes (i did this before cutting the board in half)

I used a 1.5" inch hole for the front (i think) and a 3.5" for the back (I sure of this one since I had to buy a new hole saw for ~$16)

    Tax deduction

As I understand it, you can deduct any amount you pay for something at a charitable auction that is above suggestested retail price.

So, if you buy something for $500 that has a MSRP of $200, you can deduct $300.

Very nice work and I'm glad it brought in a very nice sum for the charity!

Very modern and very nice... and glad to see there is money still being floated toward charity.

Well done and for a worthy cause..

    Joseph,

Very nice workmanship and style. Since you asked, IMHO, given the more modern feel to the design, I would say that adding a "very small/simple piece of maple molding to the top of this piece" would not have added much to the design appeal. In fact, may have been a distraction to the clean, modern design. Again, just my impression.

Great build! ....and serious wenge gloat !

Very nice piece, JJ, and I like it just the way you made it.
