    Howto? Identify old hand drills

    Greetings,

I'm looking at getting a getting a drill, specifically a Stanley/Bell 2101A or something along that line. So if you've got one for sale.... Anyway, I'm not afraid of a little scrubbing. Does anyone have any suggestions to definitively identifying these things visually?

    Thanks!

They should be marked if they're not too rusty. There's lots of close-up pics on the George's Basement site, particularly here.

As Scott said, they'll be marked. Look on the chuck. The 2100s were said to be made with better parts/materials than the 2101s. Last time I looked, George had some for sale on his sight. I've chatted with him about tools before. Very knowledgeable and helpful guy.
Where did I put that tape measure...
