    Spalted Birch HF

It has been awhile since I've had any real shop time but finally I did. My friend Joan Kelly gave me a spalted birch log and this is half of it. It measure 5" dia. x 9" tall to the top of the Ebony Finial. Finished with antique oil and buffed. This started out with a 1/2" opening but a small miscalculation caused it to be 7/8". Oh well................Thanks for looking and as always your comments/critiques are welcome.

MASTER.... I bow to your expertise!

Beautiful form, wood and finish! Love the delicate nature of the finial! Very clean! Very precise! Absolutely great example of what hollow forms are all about!

    Thanks for the incentive!

I don't think this is fair. Your miscalculations end up in a gallery somewhere and mine end up in the fire pile, something not right here.

    Keith,
May I have your permission to use inspiration from this piece as well?

I guess I need to start doing my own work too at some point but there are just so many great designs that are already completed

No Critiques needs, that is pretty much perfect. Great shape, great finish, and nice finial. Well done. Another excellent piece.
