    Dovetail bit selection help

I have the older style Porter Cable, and Im very confused which freud dovetail bit to buy, two different cutterhead lengths, both in 1/4 shank.
I have both the Milwaukee and PC templet set. Makita 2 1/4 router combo.

Now which cutterhead length do I want, I want to make a rectangular box out of either 1/2" or 3/4" thick oak.

(Always looking for the other templates for this older style of PC jig)

    Thanks

Get the one with the longest shank you can get. That was it will work regardless. Cutter length needs to be longer than your stock is thick.
If at first you don't succeed, look in the trash for the instructions.

If your router comes with a 1/2" collet use it, much better especially when routing dovetails in hardwoods.
    good luck,

Only experience I have with PC jigs is a 4212 owned by a friend. His specs require an odd size 17/32 bit. Yours may too.
