I think I read this quote in someone's sig. here, and I really enjoyed it.

From a crusty old school Navy Senior Chief to his ornery son:

"Son, if your gonna be stupid, you gotta be tough."
"Boy, you ever hear of the 7 P's?"

    Another favorite:

If you wait until the last minute, it only takes a minute.
"Responsibility is a unique concept... You may share it with others, but your portion is not diminished. You may delegate it, but it is still with you... If responsibility is rightfully yours, no evasion, or ignorance or passing the blame can shift the burden to someone else. Unless you can point your finger at the man who is responsible when something goes wrong, then you have never had anyone really responsible." -HGR

My dad and I are the exact opposite. He never gets anything done because he's always looking for the right tool or the proper technique. My grandfather is on the other extreme. He'll make due with whatever even if the end results looks like a turd that no amount of "special attention" from the Mythbusters could ever overcome.

I think that the hardest lesson I've learned in woodworking is when taking the extra time to "do it right" is going to keep you from ruining your project and when it is just wasting time making good enough better.
