    Texas Ebony HF

This is from a my first purchase of wood from Ebay. When I received it my first thought was I had been had but once I cut into it I quickly changed my mind. So much wonderful color in the wood. Anyway, this is another small one measuring 2-3/4" dia. x 6-3/8" to the top of the ebony finial. Finished with antique oil and buffed.

    Keith,

It's been so long since I've seen something new from you I was getting worried. However, as always, your work is simply stunning. Great form and finish, and the flow to the finial is excellent!

Keith - just love this piece! The actual size is deceiving as it looks at least twice that size! Love the elegant finial - you really have mastered those over the last year or so! Also love the way the finial continues the curve into the body with no visible edges detracting from the form. Also like the very small foot on this - really helps to elevate/elongate the turning!

Very nice work as always! When does your school open?

    Keith,

    Very, very nice.

Is Texas ebony an actual species or a common name for some other wood?

That's really a beauty Keith. I agree with Steve too. I thought the piece was much larger. I always like seeing your work.
