I love it Steve. Sorry as I almost missed this getting behind in the shop and spotty here for several weeks. Your kitchen looks similar to ours. Is that ply in the panels or veneer? I have an upgrade in ours coming up in the next year and I really like the look.

    Sarge..

Wow, nice kitchen Steve! Unfortunately the LOML was looking over my shoulder when we saw it. I'm in trouble now.

Steve, that is an outstanding kitchen. What finish did you use?

Thanks for all the nice comments.
The panels are veneer on 1/4" mdf. I had them layed up special. All the upper panels are exactly the same. You can't really see it but there is a row of knots that goes all the way around the kitchen the same distance from the tops. The lower panels are done the same way.Drawer fronts were cut from one piece so they fall into the sequence too. The finish is a 10 sheen conversion varnish. It isn't dead flat but really close.

Nice job Steve. I'm in the process of building some cabinets myself for a basement wet bar and I was planning on using cherry too. I noticed in your finish that your not getting any blotching in the cherry finish. How did you tackle that problem?

    Steve-
Kitchen looks great. I was going to call you next week to see if you had any pictures of your kitchen.
I have a client that wants a bathroom makeover and cherry seems to fit her style.
I believe you said you used some stain to even out the color???
Would you let me know what you used?
Im still hoping to get up to your shop one of these days.

Typically I like to leave cherry natural and let it age but I had a pretty good range of color between the veneer and some of the solid. I used cherry watco and just slopped it on with a rag then immediately wiped it back off with paper towels. It evened things out really well but didn't change things too much. I think that the natural aging will take over and look really good in a few years. It may have blotched but there is so much figure in the wood that if it did it just blends in. Try some on some scrap and see what happens.
Dave, you know the door is always open. Anyone else too.

    steve-
What grit sandpaper did you use prior to applying the Watco?
And did you use the same grit for the solid wood vs the veneered panels??

    One more question-
How much did you charge the client for the beautiful work ??

I sanded everything to 220. solid and veneer both.

    As for the fee;
she decided since I am making progress she will let me live.
I figure that is payment enough.
