Ain't been around much (long and pics)

Boy have I missed this place. I've been pretty busy with work and being a new daddy. Where does the time go?

Finally got a little shop time and here's what I'm working on.

This cabinet is for my shop. I was going to build a small stub wall to put behind my ornamental mill which sticks out into the shop. The wall would stop the chips coming off the mill and deflect some of the noise of the router away from the house (which is attached). It dawned on me that a cabinet would be more useful and would stand up on its own without being attached to the floor or ceiling. It will be 6' wide and 7'2" tall. I only just got started so no pics yet of the actual project.

then I got the bright idea to use up as much of the scrap and left over 2x lumber that I can. I think I'll have to buy some wood but hopefully not much. Some of the 2x lumber is scrap from the dolly on which I built my sailboat. Its got holes in it but I'm not too worried. Its better than burning it.

And a couple of sort of off topic pics.

First, my bride and my little buddy ready for sailing.

And a recent shot of Ian in his cradle. Wow, has he grown!

We're headed off to Maine on Thursday so no shop time for a bit. Have a good one all.

I know where you've been Dave - on the Sketchup forum!! WOO-HOO!! Plans look great. I like the very top shelf overhang. More room for putting "stuff".

    Beautiful family!!! Todd

Good to hear from you, Dave. Ian is looking great with mom in that stylish vest, too. Congratulations to you both. I like the cabinet design. SketchUp really does a nice job with helping visualize things. (I have half a mind to install it on my work machine so I can spend more time learning it...with all the travel I'm doing, it's been tough to get time with the application) You should be able to use up that 2x stock very nicely for this project, resawing it to the dimensions you need, etc.

Everything and everybody looks great and seems to be falling into place very nicely, Dave!

    Look forward to the cabinet.

Yeah, I'd say it's been a while! Ahhhh, but I understand! Time well spent, I'm sure. The family is looking great and I'll bet you're "all smiles", too! Nice sketch...I too am looking forward to the finished product! Don't be a stranger....
