    Accepted!

Some of you may remember a month or so back that I was planning to submit some pieces to a local museum exhibit. I received word on Thursday that 2 of the 3 pieces that I submitted have been accepted and will be on exhibit in their museum for 45 days.

Below are the photos of the pieces that were accepted.

    Thanks
    Jason

    "Off Broadway" - 2008
    Eucalyptus Burl: 9 1/4" X 5 1/8", 7" X 3 1/4", 5 1/8" X 2"
    Description: "Off Broadway"
Description: The wood for "Off Broadway" was salvaged from a construction site where a dead Eucalyptus tree was cut down to make way for a new office building. I was able to salvage several large burls from the tree before the remaining wood was sent through a chipper. The many cracks were filled with a mixture of glue and coffee grounds to stabilize the bowls and provide a nice color contrast.

    "One Man's Trash..." - 2007
    Spalted Palo Verde: 16 5/8" X 3 1/2"
Description: I originally salvaged the wood for "One Man's Trash..." from a construction site when the Superstition Freeway was being expanded about 5 years ago. The logs were placed on a shelf and forgotten about for several years during which time numerous insects took up residence. I came across the logs while cleaning my shop in early 2007 and nearly threw them into my recycling bin based on their outside appearance. Once cut in half it was clear that my trash had in fact become treasure.

Man those are beautiful bowls. Quite mezmerizing actually!

I do find the backround of the pictures to be distracting though. a solid backround would have been a better choice.

    Congratulations on the exhibit.
