Check out the NBM Show in Long Beach 7-29 thru 8-1.
Long Beach is close to LA.
Its on the Sawmill Creek calendar at the bottom of the home page.

There are some dates set asside at the L.A. Conv. Ctr. throughout August, but they do not mention (per my finding) what for until actual day of the event. Too short of notice for me.
It could also be that the original location was at Los Angeles, and it got moved to Long Beach without me noticing.
