Thread: tacky finish?

    tacky finish?

... on used director chairs bought at a yard sale. My wife used tacky cloth to wipe the dust off and the wood (birch or maple) feels un-naturally sticky.

Any thoughts on how to remedy?

You may get better answers and more answers if you post in the "Project Finishing" section than in General Woodworking.

Use GoJo cream hand cleaner. Not the one with pumice in it. Slather it on and let it set 20 minutes, then clean it off with rags.

You made need to add finish.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.
