How does Old Growth Teak compare to modern Marine Teak?

    Hi all,
I'm looking for some teak plank to replace some decking on my boat, but the price of 8/4 teak at the local hardwood is truely offensive. So I'm looking for alternatives to avoid removing it alltogether and texturing the decks.
I found a supplier on ebay that has a bunch of old growth teak planks 2" thick that were recovered from an old tannery, estimated to be 75yr old, at a pretty reasonable cost; even after shipping.
How do you suppose this wood will work when laid down beside weathered planks of more modern origin? The boat is taiwanese, so I'm guessing the teak is from that side of the world.
    Thanks,
    Walter

Go for the old growth. Many of the modern Teak farms arent producing Teak that even close to the quality of native/naturally grown Teak.

Lots of the farmed Teak is barely boatbuilding quality.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a shot and see how it looks with the old teak.
