    Finishing Birch Doors

I have some birch veneered interior doors that I will be installing in my house soon. They have some dark reddish grain patches that are characteristics of birch. I would like to dye or stain them to even out the color somewhat, but not make then any darker than the dark patches are already. I don't want to obscure the grain any more than I have to. A brown tone, on the cool to green side, would be best. These will be top coated with Target USL. Has anyone stained such doors and can make some reccomendations on a finish schedule?

    Rick.

Use alcohol soluable dye. Practice on something other than your doors.

Finishing is an 'Art & a Science'. Actually, it is a process. You must understand the properties and tendencies of the finish you are using. You must know the proper steps and techniques, then you must execute them properly.
